I came to know of FrankEve when I was teaching health in junior and senior secondary schools in 2006. I was impressed by its passion for education women and the drive for improving their lives. We became fast and lasting friends. I remember travelling with Francisca to check up on former students, as she continued to provide them with support on their paths, and I witnessed a deep familial connection within the FrankEve community. At this time, the curriculum was lacking in academic subject areas, so we brought in volunteers to teach and help round things out. I was moved by the students’ passion and talent, and worked with my community in New Brunswick on fundraising initiatives that provided the school with over thirty thousand (Canadian) dollars that went towards building infrastructure.
